Choir Director/Piano Player

Falkner Swamp UCC in Gilbertsville is seeking a choir director/ piano player. We may be small, but we have an enthusiastic choir who love to sing to the Lord! We are looking for someone who can give us 3–4 hours a week (rehearsal and some Sunday morning worship services). Church Secretary

Calvary UCC in Reading is looking for a part-time secretary for 15 hours a week. Tasks include, among other tasks, building scheduling, bulletins, upkeep of information on the website, and helping distribute food bags in emergencies. Administrative Assistant

 Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. 

  2. Experience in an office situation/administrative position is preferred. 

  3. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 

  4. Must have good organizational and social skills, multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise. 

  5. Must be able to prioritize and stick to weekly deadlines. 

  6. Must be a self-starter with an innovative approach to administration and a keen eye for detail. 

  7. Must be committed to the church’s mission and message 

  8. Must be courteous and tactful with parishioners, especially in times of grief and crises in their lives. 

  9. Must exercise exceptional judgment in dealing with sensitive and personal issues. 

  10. Must be comfortable working with technology and work with general data processing duties. 

  11. Must be an able and willing member of the church team. 

  12. Must be comfortable with a wide range of individuals, able to work and comfort those from all walks of life. 

  13. Must have experience with Windows computers, office photocopying machines, Microsoft Office programs, Google applications, and social media. 

  14. Must be willing to receive and respond to constructive criticism. 

  15. Must successfully complete the Pennsylvania Criminal History Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, and the FBI Criminal History Record. 

JOB DETAILS 

  1. Location—on-site 

  2. Hours—Part-time, ten (10) hours per week; additional overtime hours as necessary with leadership approval 

  3. Schedule—Consistent with to be negotiated, flexible hours that will be published in the bulletin/church communications 

  4. Salary—The starting salary will be $15/per hour. Upon successful completion of a six-month probationary period, the salary will then be raised to $17/per hour. 

  5. Time Off—If time off is desired, a two week notice in writing is required. Time off will be without pay. 

  6. Work accountability—subject to a bi-yearly review. Position reports to the Vice Moderator of the Executive Board. 

Choir Director/Pianist

St Paul’s UCC, Kutztown, is looking for a Choir Director / Pianist.

Job Description

  • Choir practice every Thursday evening (7:30 to 8:30) from the Thursday after Labor Day until the end of June. Practice 30 minutes before worship service on Sunday.

  • Coordinate music with the Worship Committee for special service

  • Accompany choir on piano

  • Fill in for organist’s vacations

  • Growth in the Sunday school program would initiate the need for a Junior Choir (this would entail a pay increase)

  • Choice Director is a member of the Worship Committee, which meets monthly

  • Responsible for piano maintenance, regular tuning

  • Responsible for monitoring the filling the piano humidifier with distilled water as needed
